Hey, my name is William Kiely.
My Myers-Briggs type is INTJ.
I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts in May 2014.
My life mission is to do the most good possible (effective altruism).
Two of my long term ambitions are (1) significantly improving the educational experiences of young people and (2) creating anarcho-capitalist societies with polycentric legal systems.
(1) I believe that as a society we can do a much better job with human development than we are doing currently. Traditional public schools are very far from being an optimal way to help children develop into creative, confident adults capable of lifelong success and flourishing.
In September-November 2014 I participated in an 8-week educational-entrepreneurship boot camp called Exosphere in Reñaca, Viña del Mar, Chile and became part of an incredible community of people in the process with great visions for education in the future that are similar to mine.
(2) I also believe that the existing monopolistic governance systems are unjust and inefficient. I see the creation of new societies in which people are free to subscribe to the services of any of a number of governance service providers rather than be forced to pay for the services of a single government that rules over the territory in which they live as an incredible feat yet to be achieved. Such new societies would allow for experimentation with new sets of rules and would lead to an evolutionary process of rapid progress towards much better laws.
In June 2015 I met many ambitious people who share my vision for such a libertarian anarchist society at a conference called Voice & Exit in Austin, TX. While it remains unclear whether our utopian society will first be created on a seastead on the ocean or in a startup city / LEAP zone (Legal, Economic, Administrative, and Political jurisdiction), we are still optimistic about our long term prospects of creating a society with consumer choice in governance services.
I’d love to hear from you, especially if I don’t know you already. Contact me.
